The love story between the International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada
and the Alhambra Palace Hotel adds so many years would have to go back to the
beginning of the event to know when and how it all began.
This luxury hotel and next to the Alhambra and countryside, have everything in
hand to be the reference point of one of the major events related to music
and dance of those held in this country. Its rooms have witnessed the movement
of musicians , conductors , singers , dancers , choreographers , stage
directors … Its halls have hosted conferences, workshops and meetings
with the media by the big stars and its theater has been another character
with its magnificent festival cafés – concerts evenings a genre highly valued
by critics and which involved small chamber ensembles and artists first
representatives of all styles .
Since its inception , the terrace of the Palace hosted some extensions of the musical
evenings on all those occasions where the moments on stage seemed not to have been
enough . People hurrying and savoring the last minutes of music , you have to
continue discussing the wonder of the experience and have to try to retain some of the
magic enjoyed.
The tradition has been expanded between 1995 and 2004 with these concerts cafes, allowing
great performances for young audiences and selected quality lovers . Nuria Rial ,
Bernet Vivancos , Mariola Cantarero , Celia Mir , Paloma Beganza , Horacio Icasto ,
Mireia Pintó, Manel Camp, Jonathan Waleson , Judith Jauregui … The list of artists
have become as long as exquisite.
Friday June 17th this will be the 65th edition of the festival. There will be dozens
of new opportunities to enjoy the music and dance in the capital and to convert
Granada and the Alhambra Palace Hotel in landmarks of traditional culture in this
lovely country.
