HOTEL ALHAMBRA PALACE OFFICIAL VENUE OF THE INTERNATIONAL TANGO FESTIVAL 2019
The theatre inside the iconic Granada hotel will host one of the evenings in the official programme of the International Tango Festival of Granada
The festival is from the 19th to 24th March with the theme ´the ages of Tango´. It´s an unmissable date in the cultural calendar of the city. In its 31st edition, the programme offers a full agenda of activities. Many will be held at Teatro Isabel La Católica, official headquarters of the Tango festival. Although there are other locations around the city and province of Granada too.
Amongst those venues is the ´after party´ which is held in the theatre of the Hotel Alhambra Palace.
On Thursday 21st March the evening celebrates the typical dance from River Plate. (the Rio de la Plata área of Argentina – Uruguay)
The perfomance also is themed the areas relationship with Granada, Spain.
Sensuality, passion, its an art that combines music and dance. Combining both sound and vision captivating the onlookers. This is the essence of Tango. A cultural manifestation that began in Buenos Aires and became an international sensation. From the 19th to 24th of March Granada once more welcomes the International Tango Festival. The most established and awarded of its kind in Europe. Which previously showcased 1500 prestigious artists such as Roberto Goyeneche, Horacio Ferrer, Amelita Baltar or Los Dinzel.
‘The Ages of Tango’ is the theme of this 31st edition. Which will also fill different venues around the city. Concerts, popular dance performances and urban space events. Some of them will be in the province of Granada as per previous editions.
Amongst the most notable performances is´Tango Break Fusión´ created by the Compañía Sabor de Tangos. With the daughters of Enrique Morente performing and Rubén Juárez. The voice of Alfredo Pittis and Pablo Allende on guitar. Also the ‘Suspiros de Tango’ by Cristina Cortez and her company Latiendo Tangos.
One of the official venues is the theatre inside Hotel Alhambra Palace. The hotel is always commited to art and cultural events. The theatre of the emblematic Granada Hotel is well known for being the venue of the first ‘Concurso del Cante Jondo’. A contest designed by the Poet Federico García Lorca together with Manuel de Falla on the piano. It was the first competition of its kind to support Flamenco culture.
On Thursday 21st March from 9pm, the hotel will celebrated its After party which lasts until late. The evening will begin with a welcome to the iconic theatre, followed by a performance of a popular dance. The guests will also enjoy a wine tasting from the Al Zagal vineyard from Northern Granada province. This will be served in our Mirador overlooking the city of Granada. Drinks will also be served in the blue bar.
Tickets can be purchased every Tuesday at La Tertulia Arte Bar, C/ Pintor López Mezquita, 3, 18002, Granada, and 1 hour before the show if available.
